SheSails Day at the CYC

1pm - 4pm Sunday 9th February 2025 A free event supported by the Canberra Yacht Club & Australian Sailing

Come and try sailing in a supportive, friendly environment, here on Lake Burley Griffin

Meet at the CYC from 12.50pm, for a briefing from our Commodore Sue Hart, and a sail around the lake, followed by a BBQ and prize giving at 4pm

The Club is also running a SheSails Learn to Sail Course - a heavily subsidised womens only version of our popular two week learn to sail course. Come try out sailing on the 9th of February and if you like it, join the learn to sail course from 20 February.

The Canberra Southern Cross Club has implemented paid parking to reduce unauthorised use of the car park area. We have worked closely with them on planning the change to ensure continued access for sailors.

Sailability

Sailability at the CYC

The Canberra Yacht Club offers Sailability, an international program to assist people of all-abilities to get into sailing. This is by providing an additional level of support, an established network of volunteers, and resources to assist participants. Equipment is provided to assist those with limited mobility to get into and out of boats, with modified docking areas that are accessible and affordable options to participate. Different types of boats are provided including the Hansa Class that are easy to sail. If you have a disability and wish to experience “Freedom on the Water”, you are especially welcome typically Sunday morning. Find out more and Book Online here.

Antoine Cornic finishes 28th in Vendée Globe
14 Feb 2025, 1:50 pm  This Friday at 13:02, after 96 days and 1 hour at sea, French solo skipper Antoine Cornic crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe in 28th place, concluding an adventure that he had been nurturing for more than two decades.
